Susan Maxwell Named Chair of the State Bar’s Environmental & Natural Resources Law Section

Susan M. Maxwell, a partner in the firm’s water law group, has been named as the Chair of the State Bar of Texas’ Environmental & Natural Resources Law Section (ENRLS). Ms. Maxwell will serve a one-year term in this position, having served on the ENRLS executive committee, and later as an officer of the Section, since 2012.

Susan practices in the areas of water rights law, related real estate and contractual transactions, environmental law, and administrative law. She assists clients in developing and securing water supplies and water rights. She also represents clients before the State Office of Administrative Hearings and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, in contested case hearings concerning water rights and in judicial appeals of those administrative decisions.

Additionally, Susan is a contributing author for Essentials of Texas Water Resources, published by TexasBarBooks and a project of the ENRLS, and the Texas Environmental Law treatise, published by Thomson Reuters as part of its Texas Practice series.

Susan received her J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law, a M.P. Aff. from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin, and her Honors B.A., magna cum laude, from Marquette University. Prior to joining Bickerstaff, Susan served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the late Honorable Barefoot Sanders, United States District Court, Northern District of Texas.
