Practice Areas - Legislative
Our legislative representation begins as we help our clients assess their legislative needs. Our firm's legislative team works with clients to develop plans to prioritize contacts with legislative leadership, individual legislators, and agency executives. We assist clients with the development of strategic positions and arguments related to the specific issues they face. We often work in concert with other interests and lobbyists to achieve a coordinated and more effective effort on our clients' behalf.
Our firm is available to draft legislation, testify before legislative committees concerning proposed legislation, and develop testimony and position papers.
During the legislative session, our legislative team tracks proposed legislation of specific interest to clients and provides regular status reports. We analyze legislation and conduct negotiations on critical issues.
Our experience with constitutional and statutory law is broad, and we often are called upon to advise legislators on legal issues in pending and proposed legislation. Our reputation as knowledgeable, prepared advocates has helped our clients impact legislation at all levels of government.
Many members of our firm have long histories of governmental service and legislative involvement. They include a former Secretary of State, former general counsels to governors and major state agencies, a former Parliamentarian to the State Senate, former legislative aides, a former member of the State Board of Insurance, and several former Division Chiefs from the Attorney General's Office. As a group, we offer seasoned perspectives and technical expertise on a myriad of governmental issues and long-standing relationships with many members of the legislature and their legislative staffs.
