Representative Litigation Experience
Litigation on Behalf of Cities - Represented municipality in dispute with neighboring city over annexation issues. Experience defending 7 U.S.C. Section 1926(b) claims brought by water supply corporations against cities. Assisted city client in a declaratory judgment action filed by the city against the State of Texas and several federal agencies to construe a state statute and to determine the rights of the city. Defended junior college district in suit by employees alleging exposure to toxic mercury and First Amendment claims. Conducted research and discovery in cases involving voting rights, equal protection, open records, and open meetings claims.
Employment Litigation - Represented corporation against a race discrimination and retaliation suit filed in state court. Represented a school district in a federal retaliation and discrimination suit. Represented multiple entities charged with discrimination complaints before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Texas Workforce Commission/Civil Rights Division.
Other Recent Cases - Helped judicial candidate obtain favorable ruling from Texas Supreme Court in election matter. Defended community college against claims by former employee alleging harmful exposure to toxic mold and violation of the Texas Whistleblower Act. Represented city in lawsuit alleging voting rights claims and violations of the Texas Election Code. Represented state court judge in election contest/mandamus action before the Texas Supreme Court. Represented corporate shareholder in a defamation action brought by a nonprofit corporation
