Wayne Gent is a retired Kaufman County Judge. He was born in Houston, Texas and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After his military service, he started his career as a UAW assembly line worker for Ford Motor Company. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University, and he graduated from South Texas College of Law in 1973.
Judge Gent served as Kaufman County judge from 1975 to 1982 and 1998 to 2010, presiding over both criminal and civil cases. He is also the former Kaufman County chief probate judge. He is a recognized figure in the Kaufman County legal and political communities for his many years of service to his community and country.
