Biography

Steven H. Weller has practiced for over 17 years, representing businesses and public entities in general litigation, insurance law/litigation, and commercial litigation. Mr. Weller provides general outside counseling to public entities and school districts on various business and transactional matters, governance and contracting. He also represents clients with issues related to disaster response and recovery, including guidance surrounding FEMA claims and policies.

Mr. Weller’s practice areas include public education law, business/commercial litigation, insurance law and litigation, business contracting, real property transactions and disputes, commercial transactions, construction matters and litigation, and energy transactions and disputes.

Representative Experience

Mr. Weller has represented political subdivisions and private clients in contract negotiations and contract disputes. He has performed general counsel work and representation in litigation for a variety of school districts across the state.  Additionally, he has advised public independent school districts on oil and gas leases, business contracting, real property transactions, condemnation matters, easement negotiations, construction matters and impact fee issues. He has extensive experience directing all aspects of complex multi-party lawsuits from inception through completion and has counseled corporations and individual clients on matters pertaining to breach of contract/commercial litigation claims. He has represented a broad range of clients in wrongful death/negligence and premises liability litigation involving construction accidents, oil field accidents and trucking accidents. He has also represented clients in major construction defect/construction delay litigation and advised school boards and homeowners’ association boards on dispute resolution and declaratory judgment claims. In addition, he has experience with open records/open meetings issues and public finance.
